The Lion King Gazelle Tour January 11, 2014
Pantages Theatre
ReviewThis show was jaw-dropping. Coming into the show, I have never seen the movie, surprising right? Well the day after the show I watched it. I loved this show. Brown Lindiwe Mkhize was supposed to be the Rafiki, but she wasn't on that night, and I was a little upset. The understudy did a great job, though. I have decided I am never going to judge any actor/actress until after the performance. I keep getting impressed by the understudies and standbys so I shouldn't judge them before they have even performed for me. Back to the show, the vocals were fantastic and the costumes/puppets made me feel like a little kid again. I could not stop smiling during "Circle of Life." The elephant was probably my favorite puppet. For the actors and actresses wearing the costumes (like Simba and Nala), you learned to go from "look it's a person with a Simba mask thing on his head" at the beginning of the show to a few minutes later thinking "that's Simba." This show was great and I strongly recommend it for anyone. It is not just for kids, but also for teens and adults. This show is definitely close to Wicked as one of my favorite musicals!
